About Catonsville Feline Rescue Society
FOUNDED BY: SUSAN JONES
Incorporated-501 c (3) Non-Profit- Spetember 9, 2006
Devoted to the rescue, care, & adoption of stay, feral & abandoned cats Rescuing since 1987

It is with great excitement that I am announcing the opening of my own organization, dedicated to the preventing of suffering of animals in our area. I have been rescuing stray, feral & abandoned cats since 1987. One stray, flea bitten, wet starving black tuxedo male cat showed up on my deck one night. I brought him in, gave him a bath, fed him & took him to my vet the next day. He was covered in fleas, had ear mites, & had been in many fights. He was friendly, but not neutered. After fully vetting & neutering him & lot of TLC, he turned out to be a very handsome boy & full of personality.

Living in a small community of starter town homes, a lot of stray kittens & cats began showing up on my deck. Owners were constantly moving out of the neighborhood, leaving behind, and abandoning their cats! I took in 15 strays that showed up that year & thus began my efforts to begin getting these helpless, defenseless cats off the streets. Coming from a nursing background, I was able to care for the ones with medical issues. I nursed them, gave them round the clock care & luckily with a lot of TLC returned them to full health. What a joy to see these innocent creatures blossom into beautiful loving cats, ready to be adopted into loving homes.

We are a "NO KILL" organization. We believe that every animal has the right to a full life. We believe that every life is worth saving. We believe that an animal is a precious gift from God. That they depend on us for food, shelter, medical attention, & need our protection & our care in order to survive.

We currently work out of our homes & network with rescue groups & individuals who believe in our cause. Our goal is to raise enough funds so that we can build our own sanctuary where we will be able to help more cats. We can't do it alone. We need your help. If you live in the Baltimore/Howard county area & would like to help in any way, please send us an email at catrescue1957@yahoo.com

Catonsville Feline Rescue Society is a non-profit feline rescue group based in Catonsville, Maryland. We are devoted to the rescue, care & adoption of stray, feral & abandoned cats. After their rescue, the cats & kittens are medically treated, tested, spayed/neutered. Cats are kept in foster care until they can be placed in loving, permanent homes. Those adopting from us received detailed medical records, personality profiles, & an assurance of quality care and good health.

CFRS members are ALL VOLUNTEER. Every tax-deductible penny donated to us goes directly to our feline friends. No one in the organization is paid or compensated from any income received.

OUR RESCUE EFFORTS:

We remove our cats from bad situations & give them the care & attention they deserve. We do not like to take "give up" cats that already have a good home as this takes space away from the cats on the street. We will work with you and find a reasonable solution or try to help you "rehome" your cat. See "Tips to
Re-Home Your Pet".

  • We will spay/neuter every cat for which we have funds.
  • We will maintain an effective adoption program for the animals in our care.
  • We will reach hundreds of people each month & make them aware of our efforts, the needs of homeless & unwanted animals & how they can help.
  • We will rescue every animal for which we have funds to provide proper care.
  • Ferals comprise the greatest percentage of homeless animals on the streets. We will maintain an active and effective TNR program for these animals.
  • We will maintain an effective Leukemia & FIV testing program for all cats in our adoption program.
  • Cats adopted from CFRS may be returned to us at any time for any reason & without question. CFRS mission is to significantly impact animal overpopulation through aggressive programs focusing on spay/neuter, adoption & education & TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return). CFRS is a registered 501© (3) non-profit organization, with revenue generated from adoption fees, private donations & grants. It is volunteered=based; every aspect of the organization depends on volunteer power, but it still requires approximately $1,200.00 each month to support the animal care and rescue costs. Please help us save as many innocent, helpless kittens and cats as we can.
